Hi, I’m Colleen. In my house, I juggle three kids, a husband, and a dog. I owe my passion for healthy food to being diagnosed at age 15 with Celiac disease, which inspired me to treat my food as a life-giving force for my body. I owe my passion for tasty food to, well, tasty food!
I created ZEGO with Jonathan because, as a mom, I needed a product like ZEGO. I knew that a high protein snack mid-morning helps children move what they have learned into long-term memory.
The challenge for me was that most of my kids are gluten-intolerant and sugar-sensitive, AND they go to schools that are peanut and tree nut-free--oiy veh! Meat, cheese and lentil soup needed to be chilled or occasionally went off like a time bomb in their backpacks (and my kids were tired of them). I was hard-pressed to find other options to provide protein in a convenient, tasty and healthy snack that wouldn't set off their or their classmates’ allergies.
We designed ZEGO to be a safe and delicious snack that supports learning and fuels growing bodies. Now, my kids don’t ask what they can bring to school for snack, they ask, "Mom, where are the ZEGOS?!"
